Our Story

Soderlund Sourdough is a boutique sourdough bakery based in South Tampa, founded by Michelle Soderlund.

 

Rooted in heritage and guided by intention, the brand carries forward a legacy that began nearly a century ago—when Michelle’s great-grandparents owned Fritz Bakery, a German bakery in 1920s Chicago known not just for its bread, but for the sense of community it created. Today, that same spirit lives on in every loaf, now crafted in a modern commercial kitchen serving the Tampa Bay area.

At its core, Soderlund Sourdough is about connection.

 

What starts as flour, water, and time becomes something more—a way to gather, to nourish, and to show up for others. Whether it’s a shared table or a simple gesture during a difficult time, each bake is created with that intention in mind—what we like to think of as a “bread hug.”

 

Using traditional sourdough fermentation methods and thoughtfully sourced ingredients, our loaves are crafted slowly to develop rich flavor and support a more mindful, wellness-focused way of eating.

 

Beyond the bake, our mission is rooted in impact. A portion of proceeds supports local philanthropic efforts, allowing every purchase to contribute to something greater within the Tampa Bay community.

 

Blending tradition, wellness, and purpose, Soderlund Sourdough is proud to offer small-batch sourdough loaves, baked goods, and seasonal offerings available for local pickup, delivery, and pop-ups.

Artisan Breads




Original Sourdough Loaf

Crafted with care and patience, our original sourdough loaf is naturally leavened and undergoes a slow, cold fermentation in the fridge for at least 12 hours, allowing deep, complex flavors to develop. The result is a loaf with a beautifully blistered crust, a tender, chewy crumb, and a subtle tang that lingers just enough. Made with just flour, water, salt, and wild yeast—this is sourdough in its purest form, perfect for slicing, slathering, or simply tearing into while it’s still warm.

Cheddar Jalapeno Sourdough Loaf

We hand-shred sharp cheddar straight from the block (never pre-packaged), and fold it into our naturally leavened dough alongside jalapeños grown right in our own backyard garden — nurtured in a raised bed with soil we composted ourselves. Each loaf is tangy, cheesy, and just the right amount of spicy, with golden pockets of melted cheddar and garden-fresh jalapeño in every bite. It's rustic, rich, and made with love from start to finish. Perfect toasted with butter, paired with eggs, or turned into the ultimate grilled cheese.

Baked in a golden 9x13 pan, this fluffy-yet-crispy focaccia is drizzled with premium Graza extra virgin olive oil, sprinkled with flakes of kosher sea salt, and finished with hand-picked basil straight from my garden. Every bite is herbaceous, fragrant, and just the right balance of soft and savory - perfect for sharing - or not sharing at all.

Crispy, buttery, and packed with flavor — these rustic sourdough crackers are a small-batch snack with big personality. Made from our signature sourdough starter and real butter, each bite brings a tangy, savory crunch. We season them simply but beautifully with kosher salt, and a fragrant blend of kosher salt, basil, oregano, thyme and rosemary — hand-ground using a mortar and pestle for maximum freshness and flavor.
